Parents & Family

Welcome to the Jayhawk family

Whether your student is just checking us out, nearing graduation, or somewhere in between, Jamestown Community College is ready to help them succeed.

We encourage you to support your student by staying informed while they make the transition to college life.  As a partner in your student’s success, here are some helpful resources for their journey.

Have a question about JCC?

You can contact JCC in person, by phone, or by filling out our form »

As your student prepares for JCC

Follow along with your student’s steps to admission. They receive important information in a variety of formats. Remind them to check their emails, text, and calls to stay up-to-date.

While your student attends JCC

Encourage your student to self-advocate and take advantage of services and resources. Each student has a dedicated Success Navigator to help them get started with the academic year. Check in with your student to see if they have met them yet!

Good to know about accessibility support:

Unlike high school, a student’s IEP or 504 plan does not follow the student to college. You can help your student contact Accessibility Services to discuss accommodations and bring information from medical/mental health providers to the initial appointment. Your student is in charge of their accommodations. We will only communicate with parents when there is a proper release in place, and even then, we will only communicate to assist the student with access to their courses.

Good to know about career support:

Career Services can help you access Handshake, JCC’s career platform. In Handshake, you can apply for on-campus jobs, register for career events, and access additional career resources.

As your student gets involved at JCC

Your student is encouraged to get involved on campus! You can support them as they experience college life and independence.

Good to know about campus life:

Encourage your student to check out clubs, events, internships, involvement fairs, transfer visits, and more throughout the year.

Good to know about athletics:

Most of our sports have webcasting and/or live stats available, so you can support your student athlete from afar! You can also follow us on social media.
